Arctic habitats are already threatened by climate change. Now, due to the loss of sea ice, new waterways are opening. The fabled Northwest Passage and a passage north of Russia are just two. Among the dangers facing the Arctic are oil and gas exploration and industrial fishing.
The North Pacific Fishery Management Council is currently accepting public comments on a plan to close the U.S. Arctic to industrial fishing. Please write in today to prevent the industrialization of one of the world’s most endangered regions.
