This is a great thing, isn't it, Cybercelt? It's amazing the number of people I talk to who are getting on board. Even my daughter's Scout troop. My husband just can't wait to save a little electrictity!

Excellent video on Earth Hour 2008.

South Africa has been forced to do something as we haven't enough electricity. We now have regular outages with electricity off for around four hours at a time and businesses and mines have been told to cut down by a compulsory 10%. People are now seriously looking at getting solar powered homes.

It's an absolute pain as we don't get warned when electricity is going off but in the long run I think we will reap the benefits.

I seriously think that solar power home is the answer. With it we dont have to worry anymore about power shortage. Also with it we can help in doing some changes to the world environment and help mother nature to restore its freshness.

@sandy-I sure hope so. It is going to take the world to make the necessary changes.

@jackie-We must all look at alternative energy sources. We have been researching solar panels, so that we always have some power. We have a generator as well.

@mac-I agree. The sun does not run out of energy or turn off and on. The deserts of the southwest USA would be a perfect place for huge solar panels that would meet most of the needs of the area that is now served by Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam.

I totally agree on the solar thing..the sun is truly the great source of power..

Someday, all homes will be self-sufficient by producing their own power, whether it be by wind, solar, or hydrogen fuel cell, or a combonation of all three sources.

Solar POWER! that's what i highly agree! Since the sun give us many benefit, we should take the power of solar!

The government should increase electricity price. Then, the citizens will reduce the usage. But the main problems is the light used by gigantic buildings. These cause light pollution and trap infrared heat from escaping the Earth. Science development cause a lot of problem.

Its great that people are doing efforts to save Mother Earth. I did participate in the Earth Hour project by turning off the electricity for an hour! Too bad the solar power technology is not advanced here!
