Think Global, Buy Local

If you need a refresher on why to buy local, please see this post, Shop, Buy and Eat Locally.

Looking for local unprocessed food near you? Check out this directory of local farmer's markets across the United States: LocalHarvest.org

Here in my small town we have a Farmer's Market held in the Wal-Mart parking lot every Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. We are in a very rural area with lots of farming folk, along with some very talented city gardeners, so the produce is always awesome! I love it!

The whole town counts down the days to when the Farmer's Market arrives. Unfortunately, we only have the Farmer's Market from June to the first week of October as we live in the eastern Sierra Nevada, at 6500', and snow can fall from late Oct.- May. At least we have it for 4+ months.

A farmer's market just started near me which is great for a very small town.

Unfortunately we're also currently fighting a battle to stop a large multinational supermarket from opening in town (Mullumbimby, Australia).
