Federal and state tax agencies are moving more and more towards tax credits, deductions and other financial incentives for alternative energy. A lot has to do with politics, who's in power, their constituency, but directionally one can assume that anything that saves lives (charitable deductions) or earth's resources (alternative energy) will also enjoy tax savings for the foreseeable future.
