Save the Great Bear Rain Forest

The Great Bear Rain Forest is the largest tract of intact coastal temperate rain forest left on Earth.

The Great Bear Rain Forest covers 77,000+ square kilometers. Great Bear is home to three kinds of bears, six million migratory birds and 3000 genetically distinct salmon stocks. As in all rain forests, there are many species of plants found only in this region.

The provincial government, logging companies, First Nations and environmentalists all agreed to protect The Great Bear Rain Forest under a new conservancy. This is a new approach to resource planning for BC, but all parties committed to its implementation by March 31, 2009.

To make sure this rain forest is protected, please send a message to the government of British Columbia, urging them to keep their promise: Save the Great Bear Rain Forest.
