Help Your Muscles Recover

What is your sport? Running, triathlon or biking? Do you ever wish that there might was a supplement that does but does what it purports to do and yet has none of the side effects like liver damage or high blood pressure?

I found a new product that appears to work in helping muscle recovery after heavy use. I have been looking for supplements that I may take to help speed ups my muscles after I am off treatment. By that time, I will have been bedridden for 6 months. I know I will be weak and need to start slow, but I must get my health back, and my weight reduced.

Here is a real story from the website:
I decided to put ARX to the test by ramping up my training and increasing the intensity of each workout. So, I picked up the pace of my runs and added miles to my rides, I increased resistance and intensity of the cardio machines, I added more weight to each set of reps and I shortened my rest time between sets.

Palin : Mother, Christian, Killer

I was sickened by the film of Gov. Palin shooting wolves from the air. Palin puportedly introduced a $150 bounty for the severed foreleg of each killed wolf. IF we must kill wolves, which I DO NOT think we must do, there are many ways to do it that are more HUMANE than shooting them from the air leaving them to die.

Gulf Coast: for Fishing or for Drilling?

The moratorium on offshore drilling expires tomorrow, on September 30. Please call Congress.

The Gulf of Mexico once contained a bounty of seafood, sea turtles and other wildlife. In fact, the Gulf used to be one of the most productive marine ecosystems on our planet. But not anymore.

Many of Texas' most important fisheries now have less than 30 percent of the fish they once held. Like the canary in the mine shaft, Texas' fisheries should serve as a warning to our government about the dangers of overfishing.

Don't let the Bush administration ignore this warning. We have until Sept. 18 to make our voice heard. Send your comment online today from this page.

Over the next month, the administration will finalize its fishery rules. Not surprisingly, big industrial fishing interests will oppose good rules. We've got to counteract them with thousands of voices.

Remain Vigilant for America's Wild Places

As part of its latest attack on America's last wild places, the Bush administration has announced a rule that would eliminate protections for hundreds of thousands of acres of Colorado's most pristine forests. The Forest Service proposal would also weaken protections for millions of acres of other national forests in the state.

The agency would open these unspoiled forests to logging, roadbuilding and other development. Colorado's wild forests provide crucial habitat for the Canada lynx, greenback cutthroat trout, elk and other imperiled wildlife. In addition, they provide a major clean drinking water source for many communities, along with some of the best recreation, fishing and hunting opportunities in Colorado.

Please speak out now to help block this latest attack on America's last wild forests.

Tell the Bush administration to uphold protections for Colorado's wild forests

Texans Take Action

The crooks and thieves are ballsy and brazen
Deep in the heart of Texas
Make a buck or screw the environment
Deep in the heart of Texas

Release toxins from landfill into the ground
Deep in the heart of Texas
Build a subdivision and then move on
Deep in the heart of Texas

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Texas Progress Council (TPC) is committed to the progressive renewal of Texas. We will be working 24/7, 365 days of year, behind the scenes, on the web, in meetings throughout the state, to advance a progressive agenda on education, economic opportunity, the environment, health care, judicial reform, and other issues.
Today we need help involving indictments against two of DeLay's associates in the notorious 2002 campaign financing scheme that also resulted in DeLay's indictment and forced resignation from Congress. Earle's strong comments came in an appeal of the bizarre, Alice-In-Wonderland 3rd Court opinion.
Despite the fact that turning ill-gotten cash into checks is a favorite laundering tactic of drug dealers and political criminals alike, the court said checks aren't "funds" under Texas law, and so transactions involving them can't be prosecuted. Their ruling means DeLay and his cronies might escape punishment.
There is no better example of the sickening corruption that has infected the Texas Courts from top to bottom since they became dominated by the same special interests that dominate the legislative and executive branches. The courts are out of balance, and the corruption so thoroughgoing, so accepted as business as usual, that it can be hard to grasp.
Earle has now formally asked Judge Waldrop to step aside in the case.
You can learn more about this developing scandal at www.courtsonfire.com and www.txprogress.org.
The actions we urge you to take are easy.
First, please pass this email and the links along to your friends, family, and colleagues. It's critical that Texans hear this news.
Second, please consider writing your local newspapers, telling them that judicial corruption has gone far enough. We have plenty of background for you to draw from at www.courtsonfire.com and www.txprogress.org.
When no one is accountable, no one is safe, and that's the Texas we live in today. Corruption of Texas courts, and legal barriers (known coyly as civil justice reform) placed between average Texans and the courthouse, are the reasons.
Yes, Texas courts are on fire.
Together, we can put out the fire. Take action today. And stay tuned for critical developments on this and other fronts.
Thanks so much for your support.
Next Live Earth in India
The Live Earth concert on 7/7/07 provided 24 hours of free music to thousands of listeners living on seven continents. With music, a worldwide call to action to help solve our climate crisis was issued. A movement started that is growing daily in many areas of the world.
The next Live Earth concert will be held on December 7 in Mumbai, India. As with the first Live Earth concert, organizers will aim to minimize waste, recycle as much as possible, and employ Indian companies for lighting, staging, and video. Proceeds will go to charities that aim to both solve the climate crisis and address poverty.
From the press release (http://liveearth.org/category/press/):
Mutltipurpose Bath Tub/Shower for Active Folks
The walkin tub is meant for individuals with mobility impairments, but it is also a wonderful idea for small bathrooms and as an alternative to standard baths. My grandmother broke her hip getting out of a regular tub and was never again able to enjoy that relaxing soak that baths give you.
RemainActive has an entire line of walk-in tubs. From the Prelude, which includes the low threshold entry, safety bar, slip resistant flooring, built in safety seat, ADA approved fixtures, hand-held shower head with a 6’ stainless steel flex hose.
The latest and best selling model of the Hydro-Elite Bath Series is The Encore, the celebrity of the walk in tub industry. The Encore is the full package, featuring all the safety measures our customers have come to expect from Remain Active, plus all of the hydro-therapy features combined into one outstanding model.
The Encore tub is more like a jacuzzi in that it has 6 independently adjustable water jets for powerful massage, an optional heater,and 20 injected air jets for the gentlest of massages.
All walk-in packages are made complete with an anti-scalding device, 10 year warranty and life time warranty on the seal of the door. Download a brochure from this website.
What Do You Use in the Cat Box?
What do you use in your cat box?
Most conventional cat litter is made from natural clay, or sodium bentonite, which is formed into pellets and dried. Bentonite is strip mined from the earth in an extremely destructive process, where layers of Earth are removed and plumbed for useful materials. While the landscape is supposed to be restored after mining, the minerals and metals have already made their way into ground water sources, rivers and streams. The land will take years to recover.
When sodium bentonite is disturbed while pouring into cat box, cleaning catbox or disposing of waste, silicon particles that are a known carcinogen are released. In addition, clay is not biodegradable.
There are many alternatives. The clay-alternatives fall into several categories: wood-based (pine, cedar), plant-based (wheat, corn, grass fibers), and paper-based (newsprint, recycled newspaper). Unlike clay, most of these litters are biodegradable.
I have tried most of the the alternatives. I began the transition from clay to pine based litter about six months ago. My cat does not use the catbox as much. I do not know if it is the feel of the wood, the smell of pine, or just change. Its hard to determine because, at about the same time, I put a special cat door in the window. I think my cat may prefer to do her business au naturel.
Terrific, Cascading Menus are Back!
I discovered a small piece of utility software by AddInTools that restores the menu-driven functionality within the Windows programs to the latest version of Office. AddInTools adds Classic Menu for Microsoft Office,the classic menu interface to Office 2007, Access 2007, Excel 2007, Outlook 2007, PowerPoint 2007 and Word 2007.
The main user complaint about the new Windows and Office Suite is that the interface changed and did not build upon user knowledge of prior releases. Many productive hours have been spent trying to relearn software they already know. This is no longer a problem.
Now, the systems support group can choose to deploy the menu throughout the system or just within certain work groups. To deploy the classic menus and toolbars for Office 2007 to your whole enterprise or organization (using Active Directory); just download the MSI installation package file. Click How to use Group Policy to remotely install software in Windows Server 2003 to know more about the deploying in enterprise or organization.
PowerPoint
Download and install this software to bring back the familiar menus and toolbars to Microsoft® Office 2007. The software allows you to work with Office 2007 as if it were Office 2003. The software includes Classic Menu for Word, Excel®, Access TM, Outlook® and PowerPoint® 2007.
All the new features in Microsoft Office 2007 have been added into the Main Menu as well as the Standard Toolbar and Formatting Toolbar. The software supports all languages that are supported by Microsoft Office 2007 including: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Dutch and Chinese.
Download the Classic Menu for Microsoft Office. If you decide to purchase, your price includes free upgrades and support for 2 years and a 60-day money back guarantee.Now, the systems support group can choose to deploy the menu system wide or just within certain work groups. Warning about potential contamination in pet food
The ASPCA is advising pet parents to discontinue the use of certain dog and cat foods manufactured by Mars Petcare US. On September 12, the company issued a nationwide recall of certain foods due to potential contamination with a Salmonella serotype called Schwarzengrund. The recall includes several widely distributed brands of dry pet food, including Pedigree, Special Kitty, Paws & Claws, Natural Dog Food, Red Flannel, Country Acres, Buju & Ziggie, Member's Mark, Natural Cat Food, Retriever, Bruiser, Doggy Bag, PMI Nutrition and Pet Pride.
“Pet parents should wash their hands after handling any potentially contaminated pet food,” says Dr. Steven Hansen, the ASPCA’s Senior Vice President of Animal Health Services, “and immediately consult with a veterinarian if any signs or symptoms are noticed in their pets.”
For more information on the recall and affected brands, please visit our website. If you suspect your pet has eaten contaminated food, please call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center’s 24-hour hotline at (888) 426-4435.
What Will You Do for Halloween?
It is hard to be ecologically proper when it comes to holidays for kids. All those plastic and paper costumes and the plastic swords, capes, masks, wigs wind up in the landfill. Even worse is the junk candy, gum, chocolates, lollipops and other forms of highly refined sugar. Then we load the kids up with Kool-Aid and caffeinated sodas when they come home to sort their Halloween loot, before we send them out to solicit more goodies.
I tend to give out sugarless gum, small gifts, gift certificates, pencils, erasers and neat little sticker cards and books. Hair barrettes, glitter, scrunches, puzzles, small manicure set, fake makeup and perfume (make sure it is hypoallergenic).
My sons are now the age where they want to go out, but they do not bring candy and toys home. Now, I decorate my home and dress up in costume to entice the kid to come to the door. They are so cute!
One way I decorate my home for Halloween is with these handy food and fruit Halloween gift basket. They look great around the home and make last minute wonderful gifts for hostesses. Break the sugar/candy/coke cycle this year. Be creative.
Time to Get Off the Oil Tit
From an email from WeCanSolveIt and Al Gore:
Skyrocketing energy prices. The climate crisis. Unraveling financial markets. Wars that just happen to be in places with a lot of oil. These are all just different faces of exactly the same thing. As I've said in the past, we're borrowing money from China to buy oil from the Persian Gulf to burn it in ways that destroy the future of human civilization. And every bit of that has to change. (Al Gore)
The Alliance for Climate Protection has put together an ad that tells this simple story. And we're going to put it on national cable TV. If they can raise an additional $80,000, they will run it on 60 Minutes and 20/20 this week.
Can you help? Just go here: http://www.wecansolveit.org/oilandcoal
It is time to get off the oil tit. Past time . . .
Travel Wisely / Be Prepared /Travel Insurance
When I was younger, my husband and I traveled throughout the Caribbean to Jamaica and Mexico, on both coasts. These trips were so special that I will never forget them. Imagine Turquoise-colored water with white sandy bottoms and some of the most colorful fishes and coral formations. When we arrived in Cancun, we took the ferry over to Isla Mjueres (Isle of Women) and stayed for one night.
This was back before we needed passports, so we thought were ready to go. Right? Wrong! We had forgotten to buy travel insurance. Within 24 hours of feet down on Cancun, I was desperately ill and in a Mexican hospital, without any insurance. All my costs had to be paid by a credit card.
The next time you travel out of the country, make sure you have travel insurance, all your medications, and all the immunizations you need for the part of the world to which you are traveling. Travel smart.
Just Another Day In September . . .
September 11, 2001
. . . until all HELL broke loose. We lost so much that day besides for our loved ones. Our liberty, our rights, our privacy, our livelihood, our place in the world, our economy and all those brave babes in arms in Iraq and Afganistan.
God forgive us our hubris for thinking we could invade two countries without losing our selves. We are stuck in a quagmire from which there may be no easy egress.
Quick Eco-Rundown on Palin
GOP presidential candidate John McCain announced that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will be his running mate in the race against Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Here are some quick snapshots of Palin's record on issues related to energy and the environment:
  • Opposed a statewide ballot initiative to prohibit or restrict new mining operations that could affect salmon in the state's streams and rivers
  • Has pushed to build a natural-gas pipeline from Alaska's North Slope
  • Sued the Interior Department over its decision to list the polar bear as a threatened species
  • Has pushed to open Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling
  • Opposes a windfall profits tax on oil companies
  • Was the ethics commissioner of the Alaska Gas and Oil Conservation Commission from 2003 to 2004
If she cares so little about her state and the animals within, what do you think she will do to your state. Thinka about it.
Green Tip for Today
Recycled Paper
Paper with recycled content performs multiple environmental purposes. To begin with, the recycling process takes waste paper -- both from paper processing (pre-consumer) and from recycling bins (post-consumer) -- and diverts it from the general waste stream. Instead of getting dumped in landfills or incinerators it gets transformed into new products. Recycled paper eases the pressure on forests and related ecosystems. Paper made even in part from reclaimed pulp uses less total energy than virgin (unused) paper, and generates fewer air and water pollutants.
Update on CyberCelt
I have been a consistent blogger and reader of other blogs for years now. Lately, my health has not allowed me to be as active as I would wish in this aspect.
Please know that I read and cherish each genuine comment and will be back in action soon. In the meantime, please continue to leave your comments. It pleases me to know that someone is reading my blogs.
If you wish to know about my health problem, please read Telling it Like it Is and Treatment Worked, Patient Died and other health updates on my blog, Losing Proposition.
God bless and thanks for your understanding.
McCain, Palin, Environmental Pain
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 29, 2008
Shocking Choice by John McCain
WASHINGTON-- Senator John McCain just announced his choice for running mate: Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska. To follow is a statement by Rodger Schlickeisen, president of Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund.
Senator McCain’s choice for a running mate is beyond belief. By choosing Sarah Palin, McCain has clearly made a decision to continue the Bush legacy of destructive environmental policies.
“Sarah Palin, whose husband works for BP (formerly British Petroleum), has repeatedly put special interests first when it comes to the environment. In her scant two years as governor, she has lobbied aggressively to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, pushed for more drilling off of Alaska’s coasts, and put special interests above science. Ms. Palin has made it clear through her actions that she is unwilling to do even as much as the Bush administration to address the impacts of global warming. Her most recent effort has been to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove the polar bear from the endangered species list, putting Big Oil before sound science. As unbelievable as this may sound, this actually puts her to the right of the Bush administration.
“This is Senator McCain’s first significant choice in building his executive team and it’s a bad one. It has to raise serious doubts in the minds of voters about John McCain’s commitment to conservation, to addressing the impacts of global warming and to ensuring our country ends its dependency on oil.”
###
The Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund (www.defendersactionfund.org) provides a powerful voice in Washington to Americans who value our conservation heritage. Through grassroots lobbying, issue advocacy and political campaigns, the Action Fund champions those laws and lawmakers that protect wildlife and wild places while working against those that do them harm.
God Bless America and Keep Her Safe in Her Hour of Greatest Need
Green Tip for Today
Save Gas When Parking
Back into parking spaces. Cold engines use more fuel, so three-point maneuvering is more efficient at the end of a trip. Be aware that some parking garages and parking lots do not allow backing into a parking spot. I am not sure why, but observe the laws until we can change them.
